Height is important.
If parents had a choice they would want their children to have a height advantage.
The reasons are obvious, a bigger body means confidence, higher wages, and more
attention.
In many countries
height is a predictor of social economic background. Malnourished individuals
do not grow taller in certain countries and only the well-to-do can afford to
obtain height through a plentiful diet that includes lots of protein.
Other
countries do not put an emphasis on height, until now. For example, china has
been a country that associated beauty with small petite things, including feet
and females. Until recently, many chinese women were forced to wear rediculously
small foot containers that constricted growth. Also, the asian population has
one of the smallest average height ratio's compared to western europeans.
Today
China is deeply involved in training their youth with sports such as basketball
in order to increase their national average. Germany has stressed physical prowess
as well as mental and thus their national average has been higher than other countries.
Also,
their has been a correlation between a countries wealth and height. Highly successful
countries have some of the tallest human beings. There are many reasons why they
grow tall. One is the abundance highly nutrative food containing protein. Another
is mental health. Height and mental health are well correlated.
Studies
conducted on basketball athletes have proven time and again that height spurts
occur during positive mental states that have minimal stress levels. For example,
studies have proven that small basketball athletes came from stressful backgrounds
or had psycological barriers that prevented them from increasing height. In contrast,
the tallest athletes grew up in positive environments with minimal stress.
Other
studies have shown individuals obtaining sudden growth spurts when they are removed
from their stressful environments into positive stress free environments. The
height of these individuals suddenly changes when they no longer have a stress
barrier. Height studies on females have proven that athletic pre-teen girls extend
their youth and increase height at a later age due to their physical activity.
These girls increase testosterone levels while they decrease estrogen levels and
as a results their height average is greater.
